Skin problems are very common making up a large proportion of GP consultations and outpatient work as well as having a significant impact on physical and psycho-social well-being.

Dermatology still remains under-represented in the undergraduate medical curriculum. Dermatology offers interesting clinical or surgical career in combination with a balanced and flexible working life and fewer on call shifts. As a medical student, it is important to improve our knowledge of dermatological disease in order to manage these patients effectively.

Having a Dermatology Society in our medical school will help to:

● Promote awareness of the importance of dermatology in the medical curriculum

● Allow those with a keen interest in dermatology to learn more about a career in the field

● Raise public awareness of preventable disease such as melanoma

To help students learn dermatology in an enjoyable way the club can :

1) Make posts on social media on Facebook and Instagram about the most common skin disorders and ways to diagnose them with possible treatment.

2) Presentations of elective experiences

3) Career talks

4) Having Q&A sessions with clinicians who can answer our dermatology-related questions.
