We would personally recommend Uber over Taxis in Poznan. You can download their app directly to your phone, and simply connect your card. The reason we say this is because it is unfortunately quite common that the cab drivers will overcharge you, and if you try to argue with the price they will call the cops.

However if you really don’t like uber there is come cab companies that are commonly used by students:

Radio Taxi: 61 8-219-219
M1 Taxi: 61 822-22-22

There is an extensive tram and bus network in Poznan, with night services (marked N1, N2…). You can buy tickets from any newsagent, convenience store or more recently, ticket machines. They are time-limited however, so it’s best to plan your journey. You can also buy tickets with your cell phone if you already have your Polish banking set up – but you have to remember to do it before you get on a bus or tram.

Student tickets (50% discount) are only valid alongside your student identity card. Do remember to have this with you or you will get fined. The fines can be between 90PLN to 200PLN, and are paid on the spot – you can pay later but it will be far more expensive.

Alternatively, you can actually use your student ID as an oyster/transport card. Simply go to your local ZTM office (there are several, closest to dorms would be the one on Matejki 59), and get your ‘student ID card activated’. You will have to pay a fee of 20pln to do this, but it’s honestly worth it as you end up paying less in the long run. You can top up your card with whatever among you would like at any ticket machines found around the city.

If buying a bike is something that interests you, there are a couple of ways to go about it.

If you would like to buy a new bike, there are many places across the city where you can do that:

  • You can buy a new bike in most sport stores found in major malls across Poznan.
There are also many bike specialty stores in Poznan.
  • One that is frequented by students for both purchases as well as repairs is One More Bike. This shop is conveniently located a mere 5-10 minute walk from the library! Address: Bukowska 82-84, 60-101 Poznań, Poland.

If you rather buy a used bike, there are 2 ways you can do that:

  • Many students purchase used bikes at reasonable prices from the bike market. Every Sunday morning, there is a market where used bikes can be purchased. It is located at Plac Wielkopolski.
  • Students also sell their used bikes to other students on Facebook through the PUMS Marketplace Group

If buying bicycle is not your cup of tea, then there are other options such as :

  • Poznanski Rower Miejski (PRM) is an app that you can use to rent a bicycle to travel around Poznan.
  • If you don’t want to do cycling then you can use electric scooters to travel round Poznan, such as Lime and Bolt.
